THE ELQUI VALLEY is
a beautiful area in the foothills of the Andes. An endless series
of picturesque, sleepy villages and luminous green vineyards surrounded
by majestic multi-coloured mountains.
The famous Chilean poetess Gabriela Mistral, winner of the Nobel
Prize for literature in 1945, was born here.
Historically the Elqui Valley was home to the Diaguitas, a people that inhabited the transverse valleys of Chile and Argentina.
