CASA PUKA YANA (BLACK
and RED HOUSE)
In the native Quechua language “PUKA” means black and “YANA”, red.
The house is predominantly white. These three colours are representative
of the Diaguitas, the original inhabitants of the Elqui Valley.
The Diaguitas were reknowned for the high quality of their pottery
with its distinctive red, white and black designs.
The house has a solar heated hot water system, as a small contribution
towards trying to save the planet..
